ALAPPUZHA: The Kerala Muslim Jama-ath Council has decided to observe March 1 as black day in protest against the proposed visit of US President George Bush to the country.

Addressing a press conference here on Tuesday, Jama-ath Council president A Pookunju said that black flags would be hoisted in all mosques on the day.

The Council also requested all jama-aths to arrange speeches of Imams at mosques on March 3.

He questioned the right of the United States, which has the nuclear system to make the whole world a heap of ashes within seconds, to interfere in the the nuclear programmes of the third world countries.

He said that all secular forces should come forward to condemn Bush’s statement that US would interfere in Kashmir dispute.

Pookunju said the campaign demanding special recruitment for backward classes in government jobs would be held from March 10 to April 14 in all jama-aths.
