NEW DELHI (AP) - At least 11 schoolgirls were killed and another 14 injured when a school building in the western Indian state of Gujarat collapsed, news reports said.
The accident took place late Friday in Tichakpura village near the town of Surat, Press Trust of India reported.
Local administrator Vatsala Vasudev told PTI on Saturday that the rescue operation was over and that there did not appear to be any others trapped in the debris.
The four-story girls residential school had been built by the state government especially for tribes people living in the area.
The local government has ordered an inquiry into the reasons for the building collapse but no details from the local authorities were immediately available.
