‘Challenges of Human Rights in Goa – An agenda for Action’ :Public Dialogue conducted by NCHRO Goa PDF Print E-mail

National Confederation of Human Rights Organizations – Goa Chapter conducted their maiden program with a Public Dialogue titled ‘Challenges of Human Rights in Goa – An agenda for Action’ at Avenue Hotel, Margao on 20th February, 2016 at 4.30 pm.

NCHRO –Goa President, Fr. Savio Fernandes welcomes the Guests said that 'the various groups working for Human Rights in Goa has to form a Solidarity Forum which will give a moral boost to all right minded people. He further added 'Individually we do not have the power & strength but, working together is a way to bring Dreams comes true.

Prof. A. Marx, National Chairperson of NCHRO  was introduced by Adv. Ashma Sayed, his qualification, area of work & his vast experience was made known to the people present in the event.

Prof. A. Marx called upon to work for the people suffering from Human Rights Violations as he introduced the NCHRO’s work in India. He said 'in Assam, more than 3 lakh people were sent out from their own houses calling them Bangladeshi but, NCHRO interfered and has successfully proved the Indian authorities that they are a part of India.

RAM PUNIYANI RECEIVES MUKUNDAN C MENON AWARD – 2015 PDF Print E-mail

Mumbai, 17th February 2016

altThe renowned writer, commentator and rights activist Mr. Ram Puniyani was awarded NCHRO’s Mukundan C Menon Award 2015, in a graceful function at Al Karimi Library Hall of Anjuman-E-Islam, CST, Mumbai. The program was started at 4.45 pm and the dignitaries that graced the occasion were Mr. Ram Puniyani, Justice Suresh Hosbet (Retired Judge Bombay High Court), Adv. Amin Solkar (Legal Activist), Adv. Shabana Khan (National Vice Chairperson NCHRO), Sadique Qureshi (Social Activist), Mr. Santosh Saple (President NCHRO Maharashtra Chapter), Muhammad Hanif Khan (Maharashtra President, Popular Front of India), and Adv. Saifan (General Secretary NCHRO Maharashtra Chapter).

The program started with a welcome address by Santosh Saple who welcomed the guests and emphasized on the need of such awards and an encouraging song by student activists Rupali and team from Kabir Kala Manch.

Mukundan C Menon Award 2015 to Shri Ram Puniyani PDF Print E-mail

altKozhikode: Shri Ram Puniyani, the noted writer, commentator and rights activist from Mumbai has been selected for Mukundan C Menon Award 2015 instituted, by NCHRO in memory of late Mukundan C Menon , the noted journalist and human rights activist who died in 2005. The jury made up of Prof. A Marx ( Chennai ),  Dr J Devika ( Thiruvananthapuram ),  N.P Chekkutty ( Kozhikode ), A P Kunhamu (Kozhikode ), Prof: N Ramesh ( Bengaluru), Adv. K.P. Muhammed Shareef (Manjeri), Adv. Susan Abraham (Mumbai), Adv. N.D Pandroli (Delhi) and Adv. Shabana Khan (Mumbai) selected Puniyani from among many nominations received from different parts of the country.

NCHRO Executive Council meeting PDF Print E-mail

The NCHRO Executive Council meeting was held on 10 January 2016 in Indian Social Institute, Bangalore. Prof. Marx, National chairperson of NCHRO presided the meeting.  The meeting reviewed various state chapters’ performance and chalked out the future programmes.

Kerala (Kozhikode): C K Janu the President of Aadivasi Gothra Maha Sabha has been selected for the award instituted by NCHRO is memory of Mukundan C Menon the noted journalist and human rights activist. The jury made up of Prf. A Marx(Chennai), Prf.N Ramesh(Bangaluru), Dr.J Devika (Thiruvananthapuram), N P Chekutty(Kozhikodu) and Adv.Shabana Khan(Mumbai), from amoung many nominations recieved from different parts of the country. The award includes the cash prize of Rs. 25000/- and a citation. This is a token of our support stand on strike led by C K Janu and others, before Thiruvananthapuram for restoration their acecestoral land; said NCHRO.
