A woman who had gone to find out the reason of her husband’s arrest was allegedly gang-raped by three policemen, including a sub inspector and two constables, inside a police station in this district of Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday. The case surfaced when the victim appeared before the SP Hamirpur and narrated the ordeal late on Wednesday evening.

A 14-year-old girl was allegedly raped at gunpoint by a youth at her house in Khubbapur village in the district, police said on Thursday. The girl’s mother lodged a complaint with the police alleging that the youth Pankaj Kumar raped the girl when she was alone in the house and threatened to kill her if she reported the matter to police. A case has been registered against the accused who is absconding.

Dombivli, Thane: A woman conductor on a state transport bus was dragged out of the vehicle, stripped and beaten by a male passenger on the outskirts of Mumbai this morning, police said. The incident took place on a bus which runs between Kalyan and Panvel in the Thane district, at around 8:30 am while the 34-year-old conductor was on her first trip.

COIMBATORE: Activists of a local Hindutva brigade attempted to barge into a leading star hotel in the city on Wednesday demanding to stop its plan to hold New Year party in 'western style'. What provoked the Hindutva outfit was the announcement of the hotel that alcoholic beverages would be served free to women who accompany men to the New Year party. Police have arrested and removed 27 activists of the little-known Hindu Makkal Katchi (Tamizhagam).
