Karnataka : Four new judges sworn in

The four newly appointed additional judges to the Karnataka High Court took oath of office on Friday. Acting Chief Justice B Padmaraj administered the oath to Justice Subhash B Adi, Justice A S Bopanna, Justice N Ananda and Justice Jawad Rahim.


Born in 1951 in Belgaum district, Justice Subash Adi started practising as an advocate in 1978. He has specialised in laws relating to local bodies. He is the first member of the Bar from Belgaum being elevated to the High Court as a judge.

Forty-six-year-old Justice Bopanna hails from Madikeri. He began his practice in Bangalore in 1984. He was serving as additional senior Central government counsel before his elevation to the High Court. 

Justice Ananda hails from Kolar district. Born in 1953, Justice Ananda enrolled as an advocate in 1977.

He joined the judicial service as district judge in 1993. He served in various districts as Principal District Judge before he was posted as Registrar General of the High Court.

A native of Bangalore, 53-year-old Justice Jawad Rahim obtained law degree from University Law College, Bangalore.

Besides serving as Principal District Judge at various places, Justice Rahim served as Law Secretary to the State Government and Secretary to the Chief Justice before his elevation to the High Court as a judge.
