RPF rescues abused child

Thiruvananthapuram: The Railway Protection Force (RPF) on Wednesday rescued a three-year-old boy who was found seeking alms along with a 35-year-old man at the Thampanoor Railway station. The boy, who had cut injuries and cigarette burn marks on his body, has been admitted to the SAT Hospital. Circle Inspector, RPF, P.A. Thomas said the child was being used for begging by Raj Kumar Bedi, a native of Bihar. The RPF had noticed the boy and the man while patrolling the station area around 11 a.m. The Railway Police suspect Bedi to have abducted the child from Bihar with the intention of using him for begging. The identity of the child was yet to be established. Bedi was produced by the Chief Judicial Magistrate court and remanded to judicial custody. The RPF has transferred the case to the Vanchiyoor police for further investigation. Unidentified body The body of an unidentified person, approximately 65 years old, who had been injured in an accident on Tuesday, has been kept in the mortuary of Medical College hospital.
