NILAMBUR: Christians and Muslims should refrain from claiming special rights in the name of minority, K.T. Thomas, former judge of the Supreme Court, has said.
He was delivering the Essaw Mar Thimothios memorial lecture on `religious freedom: its use and misuse’ at Mar Thoma College, Chungathara, near here.
Mr. Thomas called upon Muslims and Christians to inspect whether they missed anything that other communities had. Claiming minority rights will only help foster communal disharmony, he said.
Thomas Mar Thimothios, the bishop of Mar Thoma Church’s Kunnamkulam-Malabar Diocese, presided over the function. Thomas K. George, college principal, welcomed the gathering. Mar Thimothios was a former bishop of the Kunnamkulam-Malabar Diocese and the founder manager of the Mar Thoma institutions.
