JAIPUR, Jan. 21. – An Australian woman was allegedly molested by a room attendant on board the Palace on Wheels, the train famous the world over for its regal splendour.
The Rajasthan Tourism Development Corporation, which runs the train, has suspended the accused employee. The train in-charge and tour escort have also been taken off duty on the Palace on Wheels. “There is going to be a high-level departmental enquiry into the incident,” said executive director, RTDC, Mr Hridesh Sharma.
The incident took place on 16 January when the luxury train was in Udaipur. The tourist was travelling with her family. The room attendant, Tulsi Rai, allegedly molested her when she was alone in her room on the train. Her father complained to the RTDC office in New Delhi about the incident. According to reports, the disgraced rom attendant was brazen enough to say, in self-defence, that he had only hugged her.
