HYDERABAD: A prisoner serving a life-term in Rajahmundry Central jail on Tuesday had the glorious moment of his life when he bagged the G Ram Reddy Gold Medal at the 14th convocation of the Dr B R Ambedkar Open University.
Convicted for murder, the prisoner K Badrinath, bagged the gold medal for securing the highest marks in MA (Political Science and Public Administration) and also for clearing all the subjects in one attempt.
The prisoner with a difference was overwhelmed with joy when Governor Sushilkumar Shinde presented him with the honours.
"I hope I will be released soon. When I become a free man, I wish to run a school,"Badrinath told reporters.
The 45-year-old man always set an examplein the prison. He used to teach fellow prison mates. Badrinath hopes that he would be released soon for his "good conduct"and wishes to write a letter to the state government requesting for his early release.
