KOZHIKODE: The FM station of All India Radio in Manjeri will be inaugurated on Saturday by Union Minister of State for External Affairs E Ahamed.
Equipped with a three KV transmitter, it is envisaged as a regional radio station for Malappuram district. Programmes broadcast by the radio station can be received in FM band on 102.7 Mega Herts.
The inaugural function at the Manjeri Unity Women’s College would be attended by T.K. Hamza, MP, Izacc Kurikkal, MLA. and Brijesh Singh, Director-General, All India Radio. The functions and entertainment programmes would be broadcast live by other stations of AIR.
The Kozhikode unit of the Programme Staff Association of All India Radio and Doordarshan has protested against the decision to inaugurate the station at Manjeri before programme staff is posted there.
