Bail granted to Vaishali Kurlekar, arrested on January 17 for allegedly beating her stepdaughter Dhruta, was cancelled by the Judicial Magistrate First Class court on Wednesday after the Kapurbawadi police added charges of attempted murder against her. The court also ordered her to remain in police custody till Friday.

Vaishali was arrested on January 17 but was released after the JMFC court granted her bail the next day. On Monday the police had appealed the court to charge Vaishali for hurting with dangerous weapon and attempted murder.

P I Kamble, from the Kapurbawadi police station said, "The medical report revealed that Dhruta suffered 14 different injuries, which were severe and could have killed her. So we applied the charges of attempted murder.”
