Ranchi: A jawan of the Railway Protection Force was killed in an encounter with Maoists in Jharkhand on Thursday. The extremists also blasted railway tracks and attacked a police station and the residence of senior police officer.
The extremists attacked a joint team of the RPF and the Jharkhand Armed Police on patrol near the Pasaita railway station in the West Singhbhum district, RPF Commandant Santosh Kumar said. Jawan P. Rai was killed and two others were injured in the attack.
Five wagons of a goods train derailed between Mohuamilan and Mcluskiganj after the Maoists, who had called a nationwide bandh, blasted the tracks, sources said. However, no one was injured. — PTI
