10-year jail term for four drug peddlers

SALEM : Four drug peddlers were sentenced to 10- year imprisonment here on Friday for attempting to smuggle heroin.
According to prosecution, the sleuths of Narcotics Intelligence Bureau (NIB) seized a lorry from Madhya Pradesh near Salem during June 2000. The NIB found heroin worth Rs 21 crores in the vehicle and arrested its driver, Gopisingh Kusar from Gwalior and cleaner, Rajesh Shukla Dixit from Uttar Pradesh. The lorry was proceeding to Tuticorin from a station in Madhya Pradesh. After interrogating the two, the police arrested three more Mohammed Hassan from Mohally in M.P and his couriers, Abdul Rashid and Gulam Mohaideen from Dindigul.
