Jaipur, Jan. 31 (PTI): At least 10 people, five of them policemen, were injured in pitched battles between striking Jaipur Municipal Corporation employees and temporary workers hired to clean the Pink city.
Sharp-edged weapons were freely used in the clashes that erupted last night, an official spokesman said here on Monday, adding, both the groups pelted stones at each other. Trouble arose when permanent employees, on strike for the past 27 days demanding hike in wages and opposing privatisation of civic services, asked the daily wagers to stop work, the spokesman said. Adequate police were deployed to maintain law and order, he said adding the situation was tense but under control. Six people have been arrested in this connection
