A mob of 2,000 people set ablaze Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation bus at Wadhwan in Surendranagar district after an incident in which statue of Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar was damaged. No casualty has been reported. Police has registered a case of rioting and damaging public property under IPC 143, 147, 148 and 435 against the accused.
According to Wadhwan police, a mob comprising Dalit community members, stopped a GSRTC bus that was on its way to Ahmedabad, asked the passengers to get down and later, set it ablaze. Police said that bus was completely damaged. The mob was protesting in Tin Rasta area against the damage caused Ambedkar’s statue, which had spectacles missing on Thursday.
