Delhi schools face court deadline

The Delhi High Court has granted four weeks’ time to schools in the city to propose alternative procedures for nursery admissions. A division bench of the court had given an ultimatum to unaided public schools in December last year, asking them to stop conducting interviews for admission. The move came in the wake of a PIL filed, seeking a ban on such interviews in the city. But there has been a deadlock since then, with the schools saying they will approach a higher court if their autonomy in admissions is taken away.
