Gwalior, Feb. 1 (UNI): Around 70 demonstrators were arrested after clashes with police at several locations here during a bandh organised on Tuesday by the VHP and Bajrang Dal against cow slaughter and smuggling. Vishwa Hindu Parishad State Secretary (organisation), Narendra Pal Singh Bhadoria, among those arrested.
About five police personnel, including Town Inspector, Kishoresingh Bhadoria, were injured and a magisterial inquiry ordered. Tension prevailed in the town. Despite providing an assurance that the bandh would be peaceful, VHP and Dal workers clashed with police, while the latter were preventing them from enforcing the bandh in half-a-dozen areas.
