Tasleema Nasreen releases book 'The Reporter'

‘The Reporter,’ a well-researched book for budding journalists, was formally released at the Kolkata Book fair here today by well known Bangladeshi author Taslima Nasreen.

Written by two young journalists Sujoy Dhar and Arindam Basu, the book, tailored to the needs of aspiring newsmen as well as those already in the profession, dwells extensively on a wide variety of discipline ranging from beat reporting and investigative journalism to political, business, rural and sports reporting.

The book also deals on every nuances of religious, environment, science, medical and even entertainment reporting. Priced at Rs 175, the book is published by Alchemy, an imprint of Mehras.

A number of renowned journalists from both the print and electronic media including Rajdeep Sardesai, Aniruddha Bahal, K G Suresh, L P Sahi, Nicholas Kotch and Toby Murcott had given their views on different aspects of journalism in the book.

Later participating in a panel discussion on ‘Media’s right for trial’,a well known journalist and presently Director Of Kolkata TV Suman Chattopadhyay and Cricket Historian Boria Majumdar gave an insight into different aspects of investigastive journalism.

Replying to queries from the audience they made it clear that hard work coupled with honesty and inquisitive mind were the three major options to become a successful journalism.
