Pondicherry, Feb. 2 (PTI): A sessions court today posted to February 15, further proceedings in the Sankararaman murder case, in which Kanchi Seer Jayendra Saraswathi and his junior Vijayendra Saraswathi are the main accused.
Except Vijayendra Saraswathi and Mutt Manager Sundaresa Iyer all the 24 accused, including Jayendra Saraswathi, were present in court when the hearing resumed. A separate petition was filed in court, seeking to dispense with their appearance. As soon as proceedings began today, Special Public Prosecutor Balasundaram, informed the Principal District and Sessions Judge, M Chinnapandi, that the prosecution was ready to commence arguments to enable the filing of chargesheets.
However, defence counsel said that he had filed a revision petition in the Madras High Court, challenging the January 25 ruling of the court here regarding the SPP’s appearance in the case. The revision petition is likely to come up tomorrow. He argued that when the case was pending before the Madras High Court, it should not be conducted here. Following this, the judge posted to February 15, further hearing in the case.
