In yet another dalit-on-dalit crime in Bihar, criminals in Harnaut in Nalanda district, on late Wednesday night, killed four members of a family causing a sensation and panic in the area.
According to the report, 8-10 armed men arrived at the residence of Chandar Jamadar and gunned down everyone in the house, including Chandar (55), his wife (53), his brother (40) and his sister-in-law (35) as everyone slept quietly in their beds.
Eight year old son of Chandar Jamadar’s brother who somehow escaped the massacred was taken away by the police in a state of shock. The police was trying to get some information out of the boy.
Villagers said the massacre was the result of an old enmity between the Jamadar family and a group of mallahs in the same village. Attempts were being made to arrest the killers.
Meanwhile, senior police officials including the DIG, BDO, SDO, and SDPO were camping in the region monitoring the situation which remains tense, reports said.
Independent legislator Sunil Kumar also visited the troubled spot and promised to provide monetary compensation and a house under Indira Awaas Yojana for the close kin of the victims.
