Tazia Committee appeals for communal amity during Moharrum

Ahmedabad : City Tajia Committee leaders S H Qureshi and J V Momin today appealed for utmost discipline during the tazia procession to be taken out in the city on February 9 on the occasion of Mohurrum to maintain communal amity.

In a statement, they urged that tazias should not be taller than four feet and all the ‘Mannat’ tazias should retire before noon, when the main procession will begin.This year, they said, there will be 93 tazias, 31 akhadas, 77 drummers and other bands, 23 trucks, 17 ‘alam’ and ‘nishan’, and seven camel carts in the procession. Acting police commissioner P P Pandey has assured the Tazia Committee of an elaborate security umbrella along the procession route
