Karnataka High Court on Friday confirmed the death penalty awarded to Bandhu, a self-styled swamy, for murdering a 12-year-old after raping her.
A division bench comprising Justice S R Bannurmath and Justice N Ananda confirmed the death penalty awarded by Jamakhandi trial court while convicting Bandhu on the charges of rape and murder. Bandhu had killed Savitri of Jamakhandi in 2003 after raping her.
Describing Bandhu as a “devil in the garb of a Sadhu”, the High Court said “little drops of humaness, which conjointly makes humanity, has totally dried up in the convict.”
Saying that Bandhu does not deserve any sympathy, the High Court upheld the verdict of the trial court.
