BELGAUM: The Belgaum unit of All India Dalit Youth Organisation has criticised Yediyurappa for removing the portraits of Dr B R Ambedkar and former prime minister late Indira Gandhi from his office on Friday.
They have warned of holding statewide agitation if the portraits were not re-fix soon. In a press release, the unit said removing of Ambedkar’s portrait is nothing but insult to entire Dalit community. The unit held JD (S) responsible for this as it had joined hands with communal party BJP.‘‘Entire Dalit community will teach a lesson to the JD (S) in the next election,’’ they added. They urged JD (S) to instruct its coalition party to re-fix the portraits.
Meeting: Meanwhile, the forum of various Dalit organisations called an urgent meeting at Dr B R Ambedkar garden at 2 PM on Sunday.
