Fake I-T official flees with Rs. 50,000
VIJAYAWADA: A miscreant impersonated as an income tax official and fled with Rs. 50,000 from the house of a businessman in Patamata on Saturday evening. The miscreant entered the house of Kadiyala Ravi, a businessman, and introduced himself as an official from the income tax department. He told Mr. Ravi’s family members that a team of officials from the department were waiting outside for his orders to raid the house. He collected Rs. 50,000 from them and fled on a motorcycle. Growing suspicious over the incident, Mr. Ravi lodged a complaint with the police. The police recalled similar incident that occurred at Tadepalli in Guntur district recently and suspect that the same person might have committed the offence.
