11,092 people reported missing
Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala Finance Minister Vakkom Purushothaman, who is holding charge as Chief Minister, informed the Assembly today that 11,092 people including 4,281 women and 1,819 children, had been reported missing since May 2001.In a written reply, he said the UDF government has received 10,008 complaints in this regard. He said during the last one year alone, 2,872 women and children were reported missing. While 9,110 people returned home, 148 were found dead and 18 murdered, he added.
During the same period 2,758 bodies, 897 of them, unidentified were recovered. The 1,861 identified bodies included 1,636 men, 181 women and 38 children he said, adding 39 cases had been registered in this regard
