Kochi: The Kerala High Court today directed Inspector- General of Polce (Southern Range) T P Senkumar to evaluate the investigation of the case relating to the alleged sexual assault of a Sri Lankan woman by Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) officials after she was arrested for drug trafficking.
Mr Justice K Padmanabhan Nair, however, turned down the plea of the woman, Santhi alias Nagamma, to entrust the investigation to the CBI. NCB officials arrested her at the KSRTC bus station in Thiruvananthapuram while she was trafficking 9.5 kg of heroin on April one last. She was allegedly assaulted and the Assistant Commissioner of Cantonment police station registered a case against four NCB officials.While considering the petition, it was submitted before the High Court by Additional Director of Prosecution K A Jaleel that detailed investigation had revealed the involvement of N G Dev, NCB Superintendent and T P Pradeep, Intelligence Officer, who were arraigned as accused three and four in the case. The Court said if anomalies were noticed in the evaluation, further investigation should be entrusted to another Dy SP.
