Adilabad (Andhra Pradesh), Feb. 8 (UNI): A group of heavily armed dacoits stopped a State-owned Road Transport Corporation bus in Indanpalli forest area in the district and robbed gold and cash worth Rs 50,000 from the passengers and the conductor.
Police said the bus was coming from Guntur to Adilabad. When the bus entered Adilabad limits, it was stopped near Indanpalli cross roads in Jannaram mandal by keeping logs of wood and branches of trees. When the bus came to a halt, a group of four dacoits forced the driver and conductor to open the door of the bus.
When the door was not opened the dacoits broke the glass panes of the bus and gained entry. Brandishing knives and axes they threatened the passengers with dire consequences. The dacoits managed to take Rs 5100 from the bus conductor, Rs 4000 from a woman passenger and ornaments and cash from other passengers. Later, the dacoits stopped some lorries going on the same route and robbed them, police added.
