Kerala opposed to river linking project

Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala is stoutly opposed to the Pamba-Achankovil-Vaipar River Linking Project as it will submerge 2,004 hectares of thick forests, teak plantation and endanger several drinking water and hydel projects, Water Resources Minister Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan told the state assembly yesterday.

Responding to a submission by P S Supal(CPI), he said Kerala’s objection to the project had been brought to the attention of the Union Government and the National Water Development Agency (NWDA) which recommended the project.
