Moga, Feb. 10. (PTI): A local court has awarded life imprisonment to four members of a family for murdering two women relatives over a land dispute. Additional Sessions Judge Sukhdev Singh handed down the order yesterday and slapped a fine of Rs 16,000 on Hakam Singh and his three sons- Darshan Singh, Gurmeet Singh and Amar Singh of Langaana Nawan village for murdering Gurdev Kaur, sister-in-law of Hakam Singh and Sarbjit Kaur grand daughter of Gurdev Kaur in 1997.
The Punjab and Haryana High Court had directed additional Director General of Police (Crime) to conduct an enquiry and also directed to record the statement of Virpal Kaur minor sister of Sarbjit Kaur.On the basis of the enquiry of the ADGP Crime, the Punjab and Haryana High Court directed that a case be registered against the accused. The Court of Additional Sessions judge, after going through the evidence, found all the accused guilty with special reference to the evidence of Virpal Kaur.
