THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Emigration authorities at the international airport here have arrested seven persons with fake visas. The arrested were to go to England by the London-bound Gulf Air flight at 7.40 am on Sunday.
The arrested persons have been identified as Abhilash, Christopher, Aji, Sabu Fernandez, Bobby Philip, Ignatious and Mahesh. They were going to London in search of jobs in the IT sector.
Police have registered separate cases against the accused. The accused were with B Tech or M Com as qualification.
They told the police that they had obtained the visas from an agent at Nagercoil by paying Rs 5.5 lakh each through one Vinod Alex.
The cases have been handed over to the Crime Branch, the sources said.
They were detained at the airport and were later handed over to the Valiyathura police.
Police said that five of the arrested belonged to Thiruvananthapuram district and two were from Thuckalay in Kanyakumari district.
