Murder case: inquiry shifts to Punjab

KOLLAM: Mystery still shrouds the brutal murder of a 24-year-old woman, Renjini, and her 17-day-old twin children at Anchal Yeram near here last Friday afternoon.

The police investigation into the case is being shifted to Pathankot in Punjab concentrating on a jawan of the Indian Army posted in that State. The police had gathered information that the unmarried Renjini had extra marital relationship with the jawan and suspect the murdered twins to be his children.

Punalur Dy.SP T. James said that a police team from Anchal would leave for Pathankot in the next two days. The police had come to the conclusion that the murders were committed by a professional killer hired by someone who wanted the woman and the twins eliminated. Renjini and the twins were lying in a pool of blood. The twins had their necks slit open and Renjini had a deep stab on her neck.

The suspected killer had got himself introduced to Renjini as Anil Kumar while she was in hospital after delivering the twins. He was seen at her house in Anchal shortly before the three were found murdered. The police said that the killer could have given a bogus name to her. His address and mobile phone number given to an agency from where he purchased a motor bike were found to be bogus. The police feel that investigations could take direction and progress only if the jawan is interrogated.
