Now child labour non-congizable, Mah Govt imposes Rs 25,000 fine

Mumbai, Feb 15 (UNI) Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister R R Patil today said employing child labour will be considered as a non-bailable offence and the employers will have to pay fine of Rs 25,000 and five years’ imprisonment. An official release here today said that the task force, appointed to free the child labour, has so far arrested 189 industrialists and freed 1,200 child labourers who were employed by them.Mr Patil also said several industrialists have voluntarily released 17,000 child labourers in their employment.
According to an estimate, still 10-12,000 child labourers are there in the state, of which 38 per cent are from Bihar, 33 per cent from West Bengal, four per cent from Uttar Pradesh, four per cent from Rajasthan while half per cent from Maharashtra.
