Kochi, Feb 17 (UNI) The Ernakulam Addlitional Chief Judicial Magistrate today entrusted the custody of three children, including two Nepalese, rescued from a circus to ‘Cochin Childline’ till Monday.
The children were produced by police after freeing them from a circus camp at Angamaly in the district.
Magistrate T K Madhu reserved orders on the petitions filed by the Nepal Child Welfare Foundation and organisers of Royal Circus seeking custody of the children. Police filed a report before the court stating that they conducted a search in the Royal Circus camp at Angamaly following a complaint lodged by Mr E K Sunil, coordinator of ‘Cochin Childline’. The search team found Durga Maya (14) and Arun (14), from Nepal, and Satheesh(13) from Tellichery, Kerala. The childline complained that the engagement of children by the organisers of Royal Circus was in violation of the Child Labour (Prohibition) Act.
