THIRUVANATHAPURAM: The Kerala Government Medical College Teachers Association (KGMCTA) on Friday claimed that the death of a boy, Shyam, at the Medical College Hospital here was not due to the administration of wrong medicine. A statement from the KGMCTA here said that Shyam was admitted to the hospital with Steven Johnson Syndrome. He was given steroids and other life saving drugs.Condemning the protest at the hospital, the Association said that such incidents would affect the morale of the doctors.
Meanwhile, Director of Medical Education Meenu Hariharan has clarified that Dr Sunil P Salam was asked to go on leave and not suspended from service It was for the government to take a decision on any further action, she said. Salam is working at the hospital on a contract basis.
