Gogoi yet to receive SC notice on 'secret killings'

Guwahati, Feb 17: Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi today said he is yet to receive the Supreme Court notice on alleged "secret killings" of ULFA activists and he will react as and when he receives the directive.

"How can I react to the so called directive by the apex court because I have not received it officially," Gogoi said here.

"I will react as and when I receive it," he said.

Former Chief Minister Prafulla Kumar Mahanta said he welcomed such a move as "it vindicates my stand of having a CBI probe"

The Supreme Court today issued notices to the Centre and Assam government on a PIL seeking a CBI probe and prosecution of politicians and officials of army and state police involved in the alleged "secret killings" of 265 ULFA activists between 1998-2001.

Besides the home and Defence Ministry, the petitioner has named former Chief Minister Prafulla Kumar Mahanta, the state government and Assam DGP as respondents in the PIL.
