The poster to observe the birth anniversary of Sant Bhindranwale has circulated across the state and it has pasted almost the walls of every town of the district Fatehgarh Sahib. Two years back Bhinderanwale birth anniversary function was different as during the birth anniversary function of Bhindranwale SAD (A) honoured family members of Jagtar Singh Hawara, Jagtar Singh Tara and Paramjit Singh, the accused in the Beant Singh assassination case. Simranjit Singh Mann is not observing the birth anniversary of Bhindranwale first time earlier too he observed the day with great enthusiasm. It is expected that like past years his followers from Punjab, Haryana and abroad, including the Muslims will attend the function.

It is learnt that like last years the relatives of Sant Bhindranwale will honour by the party. Speaking to this correspondent Mann Bhindranwale spread the message of Sikhism, Amrit Sanchar and fighting the then congress government for its anti Sikh policies. He said Bhindranwale led the Dharam Yudh Morcha. Lashing out at the present government at the center and previous Shiromani Akali Dal-BJP combine government Mann accused them of silencing the Sikhs by hitting at the ideology of the great spiritual leader. But the SAD (A) was doing its best to spread the Sant’s message and was celebrating his birth anniversary every year. He said the Sant raised the voice of freedom for the Sikhs and the seeds of freedom conceived should definitely bear the fruit. He said thousands of Sikhs sacrificed their lives during the Sikh struggle and thousands were still languishing in the jails in different parts of the country. He also urged upon the foreign Sikhs to send their messages in favor of Sikh Independence and Sant Bhinderanwale, all that messages was read to the congregation on February 12.

Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) president and former Member Parliament Simranjit Singh Mann said that Panthic groups would discuss on the removal of present Akal Takht Jathedar Joginder Singh Vedanti in next meeting.

Answering a query before observing the 59th birth anniversary of 14the Damdami Taksal head Sant Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale, in front of Gurdwara Sri Fatehgarh Sahib, Mann said that there is lack of transparency in the decisions taken by Vedanti. He said that according to Sikh traditions Jathedars of five Takhts should participate in the decision but Vedanti was completing the number of ‘five’ Singh Sahibans just by arranging the presence of a Granthi of Akal Takht of Harimander Sahib just for the sake of formality. He said that this practice should be immediately stopped and there should complete transparency in the working. He said that panthic groups would soon deliberate on all important issues.

Commenting on ‘relief’ to Sarna brothers, Mann said that it was a victory of sikh community.

Mann expressed unhappiness over vernacular press ‘attitude’ of not publishing advertisements concerned with Bhindranwale birth anniversary. He said that his party had issued advertisements to most of Punjabi newspaper to intimate people about observing of Bhindranwale birth anniversary at Fatehgarh Sahib but no one published the advertisements though the party was ready for payment. He said that now he would take up this issue with Press Council of India (PCI).

When asked about his party role in forthcoming World Sikh Sammelan schedule to be held on February 26, Mann said that his party was yet to decide about it.

Later, addressing the massive gathering, Mann said that after 1849 Bhindranwale was an only ‘national sikh leader’. He said like Hindu community is pride of its leaders like Nehru, Gandhi and Muslims Jinah like this Sikhs have pride on Bhindranwale.

He urged his party activists to past the posters of Bhindranwale at every corner. He said Bhindranwale spread the message of Sikhism, Amrit Sanchar and fighting the then congress government for its anti Sikh policies. Mann repeated his allegations against Shiromani Akali Dal president Parkash Singh Badal, Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh and certain SAD and BJP leaders.

On this occasion, family of some ‘sikh martyrs’ were also honoured. As per reports, neither Sant Bhindranwale wife nor son had come to attend the birth anniversary function this year.
