Tikamgarh (MP), Feb 20: A case was registered against expelled BJP leader and Uma Bharati`s elder brother Swami Lodhi and five others for allegedly snatching Rs 19 lakh from a hotelier here today, police said.
Acting on a complaint filed by Yogendra Jain, a case was registered against Lodhi and five others for allegedly snatching Rs 19 lakh from Jain, Sub-Divisional Officer of police S S Randha said here.
The hotelier claimed he was returning home in one of Lodhi`s cars after formally concluding a land deal with Bharati`s brother when latter`s gunman snatched the bag containing the money and jumped into another car in which the suspended BJP leader was travelling.
The car used by Jain to return home was seized and the accused are yet to be arrested, Randha said.
While Lodhi was not available for comment, his family alleged that the complaint was a result of a dispute over a land deal with Jain and accused the hotelier of levelling "fake" charges to get even.
