Thiruvananthapuram: The Marad Judicial Commission, which probed the communal riots that claimed nine lives at Marad beach in Kozhikode district in 2003, on Monday submitted its report to Kerala government.
Justice Thomas P Joseph handed over the two volume report to Chief Minister Oommen Chandy at his office. Receiving the report, Chandy said further action would be taken based on the report. He said the government would response on the report after a detailed study.
The one man judicial commission was appointed on December 20, 2003 to investigate the riots that rocked the state on May 2, 2003. In all 120 witnesses deposed before the Commission during 110 sittings. The term of the Commission was to expire on February 22.
