|Cinestar Mamooty will be goodwill Ambassador of Akshaya|
Malayalam cinestar Padmasree Mamooty will be the Goodwill Ambassador of ”Akshaya,” a novel e-literacy project by the Kerala Government.
Mr Mamooty would spearhead its campaign in print and visual media advertisements and other publicity materials to send the message of Akshaya to the grassroot levels, a release said.
”I am really happy to be associated to this unique project which will definitely change the face of Kerala,” he said while accepting the invitation, the release said.
”If the benefits of Information Technology reaches the entire population of Kerala, we can develop to the levels of any developed society in the world and the project has started functioning with this aim,” he said adding that ”I am sure that this unique project will make Kerala into a knowledge society based on techbnology.” Akshaya, started in Malappuram district in 2002, completed its phase of e-literacy computer training to 5.8 lakh people in the district. The project had been rolled out to seven more districts to equip 35 lakh people to handle computers.
With the completion of e-literacy in the entire state, 64 lakh people would be made e-literate, the release added.
