Kochi: Kerala’s first multi-speciality hospital for women– Sunrise Hospital, has begun functioning at nearby Kakkanad. The hospital would focus on diagnosis and treatment of malformations and diseases inside the uterus, Dr Hafeez Rahman Padiyath, Hospital Chairman and renowned gynaec-laproscopist, and Parveen Hafeez, Managing Director, told a press meet here.
The hospital’s formal inauguration is expected to be held in March. Spread over a 1.45 acre area, the hospital boasts of the latest whole body Ultrafast four-dimensional Cardiac CT scan, Light speed three-dimensional CT scanner diagnostic equipment.
The hospital, the maiden venture of the Sunrise Institute of Medical Sciences Private Ltd headed by Dr Padiyath, aims at providing tertiary care in obstetrics, gynaecology, paediatrics and trauma. The gynaec-endoscopy unit will also handle intra-uterine foetal surgeries, which is not available in any other hospital in the country, Dr Rijo Mathew, in-charge of the multi-dimensional scanning facilities at the hospital said.
The embryo biopsy facility and pre-natal genetic diagnosis are also available. Unlike other hospitals, separate departments have been established with state-of-the-art facilities for obstetrics, gynaec-endoscopy, infertility, gunec-oncosurgery, neonatogy, Dr Padiyath, who has successfully performed over 25,500 keyhole surgeries at home and abroad, said.
