Patna: February 22, 2006

The police in Patna in Mainpura area under Pataliputra police station in Danapur on Tuesday morning recovered the dead body of 18-year old Puja Singh, the daughter of a retired army personnel, who appeared to have been thrown out of a multi-storied apartment complex in the area, officials said.

The body of Puja, a B. Sc.1st year student at Magadh Mahila College, was recovered from a ditch next to the apartment complex causing a sensation in the area.

According to the police report, the girl took an auto-rickshaw for her college on Tuesday morning. Some suspicious characters that were also in the same auto-rickshaw possibly abducted her and took her to a multi-storied building with intentions to commit rape. When she tried to put up a resistance, her abductors dropped her several feet down on the ground killing her instantly.

When discovered, Puja’s head was found to be crushed on one side and an arm broken.

Her body was sent to the Patna Medical College Hospital (PMCH) for an autopsy.

Attempts are being made to find out if she was actually raped before being thrown from the building.
