The RSS has done away with the post of its official spokesman, a post created after the NDA had come to power.
Veteran ideologue MG Vaidya, who was the editor of its mouthpiece in Nagpur, was the first spokesman. He was succeeded by Ram Madhav, who held that post till Sunday.
While Madhav has been inducted as the new national executive, Vaidya was retained as one of the permanent invitee among the three. Suryanarayan Rao and Vishwanath are the other two.
The abolition of the spokesman’s post is seen as a move to cap the murmurs of unhappiness within BJP and a section of RSS following the Sangh fountain head’s severe criticism of former BJP chief LK Advani for his remarks on Jinnah.
The new team announced by RSS General Secretary Mohan Bhagwat includes Madandas, Bhaiyyaji Joshi and Suresh Soni.
Sureshrao Ketkar has been nominated as new pracharak pramukh, the post previously held by veteran HV Sheshadri who died sometime back, sources added.
