One killed, over 100 hurt in 'jallikattu'

Madurai, March. 7 (PTI): One person died and more than 100 injured in the jallikattu (taming the bull) held in connection with a temple festival at Keezhapatti, 50 km from here, police said here today.

Police said more than 500 bulls participated in the jallikattu yesterday.

Rajaram (30) died on the spot when he tried to control a bull when it was released from the shed. He was gored in the chest and died of bleeding. The other injured, including the onlookers, were admitted to various hospitals in the district, police said.
