BANGALORE: Art of Living Foundation head Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, Swami Dayanand Saraswati, Chidanand Muni and other spiritual leaders from Rishikesh condemned the serial blasts in Varanasi on Tuesday.
In a statement issued from Rishikesh, the pontiffs asked the people to remain calm and maintain peace in the hour of crisis.
Expressing dismay at the way political parties were playing with the security of the people, Ravi Shankar lamented that Hindus were unsafe in their own country.
"Terrorists are especially targetting the Hindu community and festivals. Serial blasts took place on the eve of Diwali in New Delhi in October last year and the latest blast in the Varanasi temple occurred ahead of the Holi festival (March 15)," Ravi Shankar said.
The multiple blasts occurred at the historic Sankatmochan temple and the railway station in Varanasi and claimed several lives.
