AIMPLB seeks social reform among Muslims

Wednesday, March 8, 2006 (Bangalore): The All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) has said it will launch a nationwide campaign for social reforms among the Muslims.

Speaking after a working committee meeting today, AIMPLB Joint Secretary Abdul Rahim Qureshi said the campaign will aim at making Muslims aware of the Sharia law and ethics. The Board also condemned the Varanasi blasts, and demanded a judicial inquiry into the case. "There are certain forces which are out to disrupt communal harmony in the country and promote hate Muslim campaigns, and these must be brought to book", Qureshi said. He called for a commission, headed by a retired Supreme Court judge, to be set up for the probe. (With PTI inputs)
