Woman seeks probe into death of her husband in Saudi Arabia

ALAPPUZHA: A woman here has demanded the intervention of the Union Government to bring out the truth behind the death of her husband at Riyadh in Saudi Arabia.

Kunjumol of Peedikapparambil House in Thrikkunnappuzha panchayat near Haripad has sought the intervention of the Union Government to bring out "the truth behind the death of her husband Hussain under mysterious circumstances at Riyadh in Saudi Arabia on February 9."

At a press conference here on Wednesday, Ms. Kunjumol said one of her relatives working in Saudi Arabia conveyed the death of Hussain to her family at 5.30 a.m. on February 11.

She said according to the information given by the relative, Hussain was found strangled at his workplace in Riyadh with hands and legs tied.

Ms. Kunjumol said the body of Hussain was still kept at the Al Sumeri Hospital in Riyadh.

But the authorities there did not allow even Shamsuddin, brother of Hussain, who is also working in Saudi Arabia, to see the body, she said.

Ms. Kunjumol said though she petitioned Minister of State for External Affairs E. Ahamed and Minister for Non Resident Indian Affairs Vayalar Ravi to bring out the truth nothing happened.

She said Hussain had gone to Saudi Arabia over four years back with the money got by pledging their home.

She said the death of her husband had rendered the family that includes her two children and Kulsumma, her mother-in-law, destitute.

She demanded the immediate intervention of the State and Union Governments in the issue.
