Chandigarh, March. 10 (PTI): Private news channel, Zee News, today apologized to the Sikhs if they had been hurt by the telecast of a recent programme which said the movement for the formation of Khalistan was still "simmering" in Punjab.
"The channel was tendering an apology to the Sikhs who have been protesting since the telecast of the programme by pointing out that the programme had hurt the community," a Zee spokesman said here.
"We never had the intention to hurt the sentiments of any community. If such an impression (against the Sikhs) had gone we are extremely concerned and we regret that," the channel said in its bulletin broadcast at 6 pm.
After the telecast of the programme on March 6 in which some Khalistan protagonists had appeared, the Punjab Police arrested two of the participants Jagjit Singh Chohan and Kanwar Pal Singh Dhami.
Meanwhile, Punjab assembly, earlier in the day, resolved not to allow anyone to disturb the peace in the state.
