SUSPECTED TERRORIST NABBED IN MARGAO
MARGAO: A suspected terrorist, Tariq Ahmed Battlu, was nabbed at the Margao railway station on March 10, late evening, as he was getting off the Mangala Express train headed for Trivandrum. The 28-year-old resident of Shrinagar, Kashmir, Tariq is learnt to have boarded the train at Hazrat Nizamuddin, Delhi. SP (South) Shekhar Prabhudessai disclosed that having received prior information about the 5.8 feet fall, fair complexioned, thinly built individual with a slight beard, the police had been maintaining a watch at the Margao railway station. "A body search of the individual was conducted which revealed a powdery substance of around 1 kg, besides two hand grenades and two detonators," Prabhudessai said. (GT)

PANJIM, Mar 10: While the police claimed that the Srinagar man – Tariq Ahmed Battlo – was apprehended at the Margao Railway Station on March 10, highly placed sources in the police department told Herald that the man was detained by the police a week ago. (H)
Navelim masjid broken into
Miscreants broke into the Masjid e Gaunsia Madrasa Masjid Raza e Mustafa at Sirvodem-Navelim on March 9 and removed six boxes containing copies of religious books. Margao police said that copies of the religious books were found outside the Masjid. (H)
