Kanchi Seer's transfer plea dismissed

Wednesday, March 15, 2006 (Chennai): The Madras High Court has dismissed a petition filed by Kanchi Seer Jayendra Saraswathi.

The plea sought a transfer of the Radhakrishnan assault case from a Sessions Court in Chennai to a court in Pondicherry.
Dismissing the petition, Justice M Jeyapaul held that the transfer petition was not sustainable, as it presented no allegations that the petitioner may not get justice from the Sessions Court.
He said most of the 81 witnesses would also have to face the ordeal of travelling from Kancheepuram, where they are residing, to Pondicherry.
The case relates to the September 2002 assault on former Mutt associate Radhakrishnan, his wife and an attendant. (PTI)
