Kozhikode: The Kerala Vyapari Vyavasayi Ekopana Samithi (KVVES), a leading body of traders, on Tuesday, announced that it will contest in the coming Assembly elections with the support of like-minded organisations in the state.
A council meeting of the KVVES held at Kochi on March 11 proposed to field candidates in four seats Peravoor in Kannur, Kozhikode, Idukki and Thrissur, Samithi President K. Hassan Koya told reporters here.
According to the proposal, the KVVES was negotiating with UDF and LDF leaders separately to elicit their support for the candidates, he said. Names of the contestants will be finalised at the KVVES state conference scheduled to be held at Kochi from April 1, he said. The two-day meet will also formulate the election strategy on extending support to political parties in the remaining seats in the state, he added.
